John H Goodwin is President of Effective Business Strategies Inc, a Vancouver-based independent management consulting firm. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of Mobile Productivity Inc (delivering performance support systems through the Internet) and THEOS Software Corporation (offering a secure, stable and robust development environment for secure mission critical applications).

He was Chairman, CEO, and a Director of ATC Technologies Corporation (public on the Canadian Venture Exchange), and its wholly-owned subsidiary AutoSoft Tool Corporation, from 1998 to 2001. John guided ATC from a company in trouble to the verge of launching a web-based performance support system for the US automotive repair industry, until caught in the recent brutal high tech financial market conditions. This performance support system, designed to deliver context-specific information JIT to users through the Internet, was based upon the Application Service Provider (ASP) revenue model.

As an executive, consultant and venture investor, John has substantial and broadly-based domestic and international business experience. He frequently taps his wide range of contacts in the US, Canada, Western Europe and India. He was President of Applied Strategies Ltd, a management consulting and early-stage venture investment company (high tech and other knowledge-based businesses). Prior to joining Applied Strategies, John was Director of Business Planning and Market Analysis for MacMillan Bloedel Limited, then Canada's largest forest products company and now part of Weyerhaeuser. In his 14 years with MB, he was also involved in new product development, acquisitions and divestitures, development of management decision systems and major capital approvals. His tenure at MB followed management and consulting positions in Montreal, London (UK) and Los Angeles.

He was one of the architects of what became The Strategic Leadership Forum, the leading professional strategic planning / management society in the US and Canada.

John was born and raised in Vancouver, graduating from UBC with a Bachelor of Commerce (First Class). He earned his MBA (Honors) at UCLA before pre-doctoral studies at the LSE (London School of Economics).

He is an active volunteer leader in the community. John co-Directs with his wife the Alpha course at First Baptist, Vancouver.  They are Advisors for Alpha in Vancouver and will Co-Chair the Alpha Vancouver 2003 Conference.  John was President of the Community Arts Council and Chair of the 50th Anniversary Celebrations. He was also President of the West Vancouver Soccer Association, Director of the Vancouver East Cultural Centre, and Director of the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design (appointed by Order-in-Council). John helped organize the inaugural Bill Reid Invitational Concert Series at the UBC Museum of Anthropology for the University of Northern BC.
